Project Two

I began this design by mapping out the sword swings and spins first. This clip is specifically displaying the use of the weapon, so I wanted to make sure the emphasis was on the use of the weapon itself. I used a few different ‘swing’ sounds depending on the movement of the swing, along with a metallic noise to give the more realistic sound of a sword. Following this I searched extensively to find ‘electronic’ sounds to emphasize the awesome lighting-type of display from the sword! I used a combination of sci-fi humming sounds and a patch I created with Massive X. Then I timed these sounds with how the light moved across the sword, added a bit of phase, and some cool reverb! The phase and reverb contrasts nicely with the dry nature of the rest of the clip, which helps emphasize that display! I combined multiple sheathing sounds, mechanical clicks and pulls, and slight whooshes to create that realistic sheathing movement! Finally, I added a small room reverb and a light compressor to glue everything together.
